Through SWK Gives, SWK maintains its long-standing commitment to giving back. In addition to numerous collaborations with organizations such as the Jillian Fund, Knock Knock Give a Sock, 30 in 30 Challenge, and Spectrum 360, the SWK team had the pleasure of working with Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) again this past February 2024.
SWK’s Work with HYC
Homeless Youth Connection is a beacon of hope for vulnerable youth in Arizona, striving to foster a successful future through community support. By contributing essential supplies and teaching valuable skills to homeless youths, the nonprofit group goes beyond just financial aid. SWK’s journey with HYC started in 2023, when SWK learned about the unique struggles of teens facing homelessness during our annual internal OneVoice conference. The SWK team was able to come together and donate over 200 hygiene kits for HYC to distribute. These kits included essential supplies that would aid homeless teens.
In March 2024, SWK Technologies was named the Scanco Distribution Partner of the Year for 2023; in honor of this award, Scanco agreed to pledge a $1000 donation to a charity of the company’s choosing, with SWK Gives selecting Homeless Youth Connection. Sage Group plc through their Sage Foundation charity later matched this donation, resulting in a total of $2000 being donated to HYC on SWK’s behalf.
In addition to the monetary donation given by SWK’s partners, the SWK internal IT team worked diligently to refurbish and update 50 laptops no longer being used by SWK, and donated these through HYC to youth in need who are pursuing an education.
February 2024 Visit to HYC
While SWK had directed funds to HYC and supplied important resources, individual SWKers have also stepped forward to help HYC achieve its goals through volunteer work. On February 29, 2024, SWK team members such as Chief Human Resource Officer Selya Stone, Chief Marketing Office Antonio Carrion, and Sage 100 Consultant Susan Loga engaged in a tour of the new HYC facility. They then assisted by building shelving units for youth dormitories and sorting donated items and inventory.
Susan Loga, an SWKer who is consistently involved in SWK Gives volunteer opportunities, shared her thoughts about the visit to the new HYC facility, “The number of items we were able to check off Robin’s (Robin Adams Telle, Community Engagement Manager) list was amazing. SWK knows how to get things done. I also loved seeing our SWK team interacting with people we did not know before that day or outside of the work relationship and doing good for HYC at the same time.”
